Growing Clarity

A mark of elevation is the change from the lwa as an outside advisor, even an alien advisor, to the familiar advice of someone who knows you well. It is the slow growth of familiarity, as if becoming a close friend or someone with whom you have a mutual understanding, someone who knows you well enough to offer the advice you may not want to hear, but need to hear.

People are not always happy to be known.

Early on in people’s spiritual journeys, the advice or guidance given by the lwa seems bizarre—it makes no sense, or it seems unnecessarily confrontational, or is shockingly perceptive. In a way, their response to that advice is a kind of test. Initial rejection is common, but people who stay rejecting advice that they feel uncomfortable hearing are communicating that they are not interested in help nor in healing or elevation. They have chosen to be comfortable over any other alternative.

Where clarity is growing in someone, they will begin to prioritize that advice and hearing or receiving it over their comfort. There is satisfaction in that advice, in the idea that someone is paying that sort of attention to your individual state and the idea that someone knows what to do next. There is also satisfaction in growth itself, in knowing that you can change and become more capable, that you do not have to stay the same.

Where that satisfaction becomes important, more important than the comfort of staying the same and hearing things which are flattering, the person has committed themselves to clarity and is engaged in spiritual growth.
